2002 Jaguar X-Type gearbox
Transmission problem
2002 Jaguar X-Type 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic 87775 miles
my jaguar is automatic and after driving it for an hour it kept revving high before changing gear & eventually the display showed faulty gearbox and i lost all drive. i switched off and left it 10 minutes and it then drove ok for a few miles and started doing it again. I repeated this procedure until i got home. What do you think it could be

Thank you for the donation.
Possible causes for such symptoms are :
1. Low fluid level or clogged filter.
2. Faulty solenoids.
3. Faulty controls.
4. Wiring
5. Failing transmission.
The trans uses WS world Standard ) grade trans fluid and must never be substituted with any other grades.
Checking the fluid level requires warming up the trans fluid and removing the trans fluid level tube plug.
