Coolant Problem?

I have a '98 Mustang GT 4.6L V8 with 147576K. The coolant light on the dash came on and we checked the resavore. It was empty. Well, we got some 50/50 coolant, mixed it and then put it in the car. Drove the car to the store and home. The light came on again. We checked the coolant resavore again and it was empty again. Upon filling it back up we noticed that there was antifreeze on the engine block. Is this something that can be fixed or will I have to buy a new motor for my car? This is the first "real" problem with my car and I don't want to set it out to pasture just yet. PLEASE HELP!

Thanks! But now I have a different question. We keep coolant with us and don't drive very far. Took my neice to school, and when got home noticed smoke or something coming from under the hood. Popped hood and could not find the source. When I closed the hood, the smoke continued. The smoke was wispy kind of like cigar smoke. It had no odor and was really light. My car was aalso dripping water at the same time. While under the hood I still could not find the source. There is a large puddle of water under my car and I don't know where it is coming from. What can I do? PLEASE HELP!

Thank you so much for your feedback. Tried what you had suggested and go paranoid all at the same time. Took my car to my local Ford dealer and told them what was going on. Also told them about your advice, and the man who worked on my car (William) said that it was the intake manifold, and that my oil was running hot (whatever that means) and he also said that he appreciates the help of a former Ford tech and said Thanks. So he put a rush on all the parts he needed and got them in the same day and my car fixed. Thanks again on your wonderful advice it really helped and saved me from having to buy a new motor. Your great! :D :D  :D :D
