95 explorer XLT 4wd. 120k Mi. Analog-type odometer just quit while driving on the highway. Speedometer still works fine. Any ideas on what / where to check, and home repairs? I assume my friendly Ford dealer could make this into a $400 job.

Had the same problem, pulled the dash apart, once you get the clear cover from in front of the spedo, you can remove the speedo and tach they just pull off. Look behind this cluster and you will see gears. On mine there is a long gray gear that split in half. I used a toothpick and super glue gel to put the two halfs back togeather. So far so good.
