Idles great when RPMs hit 2,000 the RPMs surge up and down. Replaced cam and crank shaft sensor, idle control sensor, and still does it. Also replaced wiring harness connector to cam. It ran fine before replacing manual transmission. Help, no one can fix it.

Just to be clear, this issue was not happening when you had the last transmission and now it started immediately after replacing the transmission.

Did you use a new or used transmission?

RPM going up and down could be a couple things but is there a reason you are addressing the cam sensors?

Depending on what your answers we could go in different directions, but we are going to have to check fuel pressure and some other items. Here are a couple guides that will help with doing these.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/how-to-check-fuel-system-pressure-and-regulator

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/engine-surges

Based on this info we will need to determine what direction to go so let's find out if this was immediately after the transmission replacement and if you used a new or used unit.

Thanks

It was a professionally rebuilt transmission shifts great now was popping out of fifth gear thus the replacement never did this before replacing of transmission, fuel pump is new. Several people said cam and crank sensors possibly so that's why replaced them.

Got it. So, surging can also be called a flare. This is when the transmission pressure gets high enough that it finds a place that is not sealed that should be and it releases pressure, and it causes a lack of acceleration or the feeling of a surge.

So, this means we need to check the pressure of the transmission. Or if this was a rebuilt unit, take it back because more than likely they cut a seal when rebuilding.

It's not a feeling of a surge the car is in neutral and at 2,000 RPMs it will drop to 1,500 and surge back up and down. The car isn't in gear or moving.

Okay. That is different then. Clearly not related to the transmission if it is in neutral.

Can you get a video of what this is doing? That will help with getting us on the same page.

Thanks

Below is a video of the revving it does at 2,000 RPMs.

Got it. Thanks for supplying the video as that is what I suspect this was with this additional info. That is called a rev limiter and is 100% normal.

That is protecting the engine from over revving when there is no load on it.

Basically, the PCM is seeing that the vehicle is not in gear and watches the throttle input for when you are holding it down. The PCM then cuts fuel input to keep the engine from over revving and this creates the surging that you are seeing.

So, if you have no issue when this vehicle is in gear, and you are accelerating then this is programmed into the PCM and will not be corrected as it is by design.

Does that make sense?

It does the same thing when you're driving once you shift and get up to 2,000 RPMs.

Okay. I thought you said it only did it in neutral. So, if it does this in neutral only then that is normal.

However, if this is happening in drive, can we get a video of you driving it when this happens?

However, if this did not happen prior to the transmission then we need to suspect they missed something so I would be taking it back to them and have them drive it.
