2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser Repair Question

Engine noise while accelerating
My 2003 pt cruiser idles smooth but when you accelerate there is a loud humming sound that is coming from the motor. any idea whats causes the noise.

a bearing may be bad run on the outside of the motor. it could be any of about 6 or 7 items. have a shop listen to it and identify the area that is making noise.
