I have a lot of noise coming from the front driveshaft. I took it to a back to a mechanic that I know and he told me that the front driveshaft is bad. He told me that the front drive shaft can be removed and the only thing would be is that the truck will not have four wheel drive. Is this true and is it safe to do? Help noise is driving me crazy.

Yeah, you can do that but search online for a driveshaft shop near you cause they have machines they use to spin balance the shaft and they would be able to spin it real fast and listen if the noise is coming from the shaft and even if so, install you a new tube onto those ends and rebalance or whatever they need to do to fix it.

That depends on which front drive shaft you have. The thing is that removing and replacing the U-joint(s) is just as easy and you keep the use of four wheel drive.
Now if you have the HD version that has bolt flanges at each end then you could drop the shaft with no issues, but the other version uses a slip in yoke that could come out without the shaft in place.
