I have a 97 dodge ram 1500, and my truck was cutting off when we put the truck in drive, and when we tried to start it the battery was dead, so we replace the alternator, and now the truck will start every time it cuts off, but when we place it in drive it will cut off, if we don't keep our feet on it, so we have to place it in neutral> What can it be?

Hello,

It sounds like the issue could be with the throttle body.
A dirty throttle body or the idle air control valve can impact the drivability of the engine.

Over time air particles will accumulate inside the idle air control valve and will restrict air flow this will make engine difficult to idle. This is also true for the throttle body.

Both the throttle body and the idle air control valve can be serviced by cleaning them.

Here are helpful guides of how to clean those parts:

I have attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.
