I thought it was going to be the battery because it seemed dead and it wouldn’t cranked. I towed it to the house a mechanic checked on it, and said because of the oil got too hot and car got too stressed. When I just recently did the maintenance on it and the correct oil is asked for. I gave it a jump and it turned on good but I don’t think it’s the oil there’s no connection to that. Can It be the alternator giving up or the battery giving up as well? Told me to not drive it or I will mess up the engine.

Hi,

You have me a bit confused. First, the engine oil will get very hot and that is normal, so I don't think that is related. Now, if the battery got weak enough, it can cause the engine to stall. When this happened and you tried to restart it, did the battery sound weak, did you hear a clicking or did nothing happen?

As far as the electrical system, here are two links that are easy to follow. One explains how to load test a battery at home and the other is how to test an alternator. Try these and let me know what you find.

Let me know what you find. Also, if you have other questions, let me know.

Take care,
Joe
