Yesterday my car died four times the worst was in a turn lane slowing down and the car just died. It was dead over twenty minutes. No hazards would come on. Guys were pushing me to a gas station when the car magically started again.

Went to Auto Zone they said battery was bad.

Called AAA to replace the battery they did a test of the battery and starter all seemed good.

Drove it after the test while going down the road it was dark it had a complete electrical failure car stopped and then stared up right away.

What kind of testing can I ask for of the electrical system? This problem is getting worse and it is frightening to have your car totally fail while driving.

Never ever ever remove the battery cable on a modern car. You can damage a computer etc. The battery acts a buffer for voltage spikes etc On a pre-computer car you can do that. Have the alternator tested at the Auto parts store or if you have a multi meter we can do some basic testing.

Hey Petrati,

I have seen where when a battery heats up its shorts out and then when it cools down it will start working again. Also, do the wiggle test, start the engine then open the power distribution center and wiggle the fuses and relays to see if a bad connection is making the engine stall.

Please let us know what you find so it will help others.

Best, Ken
