Car cranks but will not start

My car has been sitting almost a year. I put a new starter and battery in it it will try to turn over but will not. It acts like it is not getting any fuel the car has gas in it. I am a old lady fifty seven trying to fix my car no man to help me. Please make it easy for me to understand. Thank you so much for your time and knowledge.

Hello,

There are many things that can cause the engine not to start, So the engine is not getting fuel or spark. We must find out which one it is so we can go from there without just throwing parts at it.
