Electrical problem
1994 Buick Lesabre 6 cyl Two Wheel Drive 192, 00 miles

this happened about a year ago. The mechanic wrote on the repair invoice. Safety switch, I don't know what that means. He said he played around with it, and he said he didn't know how long it would last. And charged me 100.00. I would take it back to him, but i've lost turst in him due to over charging me in many other repairs. I'm pretty sure it s not the battery.
my question. Is there a safety switch that would prevent the car from starting.
thank you for your time

Now you need to know beforehand that this is information that I got for trying to diagnose my buick's "little issue" and has not been tested or verified personally. However, your safety switch is supposedly located inside your transmission and when your car sits for a period of months (3+) it flips and inadvertantly causes the starting issue. The other possibility is that your battery cable leading to your starter is starting to foul out, unfortunately if it is this then your looking at a $100 replacement from buick, since there isn't an aftermarket version of the cable. But to answer your question, the safety switch is in the transmission.
