1994 Buick Lesabre starting problem

I have a 94 buick lesabre. At first it would die once in a while, and would start back up. Sometimes it wont start back up, sometimes it will sit for a few hours, and not start up for a good day or two, sometimes only a few minutes. My friend thought it was the intake manifold and the ignition control module, he replaced those, but still came up as high. And it still has the same problem. Now after trying to crank the car for a while, it died all together, won't start at all, is this a ignition problem? A starter problem? Or both?

The car has around 130,000 miles, its the custom lesabre edition, and it has the 3800 V6 engine.

And as a sidenote, the check engine light is always on. It comes up as TPS Sensor high. But my friend replaced the throttle position sensor. He said it ran fine until he powerwashed the engine.

You have to make sure the battery has a full charge? Sometimes you crank it so much, it runs the battery down. I can't rule out that you may have overheated the starter. Some of the national brand auto stores will test the starter for you, if you take it off and take it to them.

Usually, with a vehicle that cranks good but won't start, have a helper crank it while you visually check for spark at the spark plugs. If you have spark everywhere, use a gage and check proper fuel pressure. Also, check fuel injector pulse, engine cranking.

As far as the tps code. The code doesn't tell you what to replace, just that the computer thinks there is a problem on system circuit, somewhere. The tps has a three wire connector, that should be ref voltage--ground and signal wire, check all three.

I realize this is an old post. In the future, hope you don't have any vehicle issues, but, if you do, keep the site in mind. They are always working to improve the site and it's free to ask a question.

Have a good day.
