Acceleration problem

I was driving home last night and all of a sudden it would not accelerate. I pushed the pedal to the floor and got nothing. I pulled over to the side of the road and would start the car but it wouldn't even go over 500 RPMs. I waited about 20 minutes then it worked fine. I almost got home and it did it again. Then this morning it wouldn't start unless you had the pedal all the way to the floor, but it will shut off if you pull your foot off the gas. Any idea what's wrong with it?

Normally I would say this is a throttle position sensor issue and it still may be but the idea that you have to hold your foot to the floor changes that.

This is called a clear flood start meaning you are cutting the injectors and the engine will run on existing fuel in the engine.

The fact that it will continue to run with your foot to the floor, tells me you have leaking injectors.

We can confirm this a couple ways. The best would be to check the fuel pressure with the key off and then just turning to on and leave it sit but don't start the engine. The pump will prime the system and then we want to see how long it will hold this pressure. It should hold for a while but if you have a leak in the system the pressure will bleed off.

So let's check this and then check for codes as well.

Please let us know what you find with this. Thanks
