(engine will not crank)

2008 toyota prius hybrid: engine will not crank. car had been wrecked & transaxle was removed to weld crack in case. problem occured after reinstalling transaxle. also, welding was done to repair front frame rail (the auxillary battery was disconnected during welding). the dash indicators and the hybrid system monitor come on normally. the car will shift from "P" to "N" normally but engine does not crank. all the fuses & relays check ok.

Have you checked the starter itself?
