2008 Toyota Prius over heated after about driving 2 hours in 90 degree weather. Drove from Sacramento, CA north for about 2 hours, had to turn back due to safety concerns. Battery need to be replaced or thermostat?

Could be the water pump or the thermostat. Could simply need to have the cooling system flushed. What does the coolant look like?

Ok. The battery wouldn't have anything to do with overheating.

What did you mean by it overheated? Normally if it overheats, you're not driving it 2 hours back home without the engine dying and seizing up.

Find a place that will pull both hard and soft codes from the computer. Let me know what you find out.

Do you have a Dropbox or OneDrive you could send those to? Our system appears to be having problems with images at the moment.

Have it scanned for both hard and soft codes. Then let us know what they tell you/what you find.
