Overheating

I had no problems with my escape until I had someone check my a/c because it would not get cold then all they did was try to put Freon in it and its been running hot ever since.I got a new upper radiator hose because the one I had was closing up some that didn't help the overheating. Then someone told me to get a new thermostat and I did that didn't help. Then I went to parts store got the guy to put it on that machine that tells you what was wrong with it and it said needs new oxygen sensor and coolant temperature sensor so I got both of those plus I have flushed the radiator several times and put coolant in it still runs hot. Help me figure out what it is tk u

Hello,

It sounds like you have a cooling fan that is not coming on which could be becasue the fan motor is burned out here is a guide to help walk us through the repair

No issues with car then suddenly the temp gauge shot up, after I let it set for a while, engine started and ran fine, but overheated again, I replaced the thermostat refilled the fluids and drove car around neighbourhood with no issues but started out of town and about 2 miles out temp gauge shot up to max again, have been told I may have air pocket (?)Any help would be greatly appreciated

Have the cooling system pressure checked for an internal leak like head gasket/intake.

My 2002 Ford Escape suddenly started to overheat while driving on the highway. It began smoking so I quickly drove to the nearest exit. For some time I had been adding coolant because the coolant would just disappear but I did not see a leak from underneath the truck and it still ran fine. Until the day I was on the highway. While driving to the exit the upper radiator hose blew completely open. Also when I got a oil change at walmart the mechanic said something about my oil pan being filled with oil but I dont know. I'm completely confused as to what the problem is. The engine overheat severely but the truck still starts up but i'm not sure if I should replace the engine or what? I wonder if I have a blown head gasket.

Are you sure the mechanic didn't say it was full of antifreeze? Check that dipstick and see what comes out! The head gasket or a cracked head are a real possibility. The hose may have blown off due to extreme pressures of the head/gasket problem, the antifreeze problem was it was being burned off in the motor as you drove, got way to low and totally blew.

My escape only overheats on freeway, not surface streets. I have had a new radiator, new water pump, new heater core, new hoses, new thermostat all installed. My coolant light stays on, tried doing flush 2 times at least. Both fans are working also. Please help

Are you sure that all the air has been bleed from the system? Is the heater working ok?

With what you have done I would be thinking that you may have a faulty new thermostat or there may be an air lock in the cooling system.
