1999 GMC Safari whining/humming noise

When I start the car there is a whining noise (sounds like a pump of some kind). It is constant and increases in volume as I accelerate. It does not increase or decrease with steering or anything else but the acceleration.

Spray water on fan belt if noise dissipates it may be a bad belt and tensioner.

Thank you Hmac300. I tried spraying water on the fan belt but that did not help.

Have a local guy look at it then as noises are hard to diagnose here as we can't really hear it.
