When I put the lever in park, the igntion switch will not turn back towards me to turn the truck off. I had to disconnect the battery and the alternator to shut it off. The lever will move out of park without pressing the brake. I can turn the key forward as in trying to start it, but it wont turn the other way to turn it off and take out the key. What could cause this, and is this something I can attempt to fix? What is the approximate cost to have a cheap shop repair it? Thanks.

Hemm Sounds like a shift tube or shifting linkage problem to me.
Try pushing the shifter up a little harder and see if the key will go to off.
