Tailgate has no power, wiring diagram needed

Hello,

I currently own the vehicle listed above XUV, 4.2 Liter, I-6. The vehicle seems to run fine, but my issue is with the tailgate/endgame not getting power to the window as well as the door release buttons at the rear of the vehicle. Also, the rear defrost button is not working as well.I would like to assume that the problem is contained to the rear function of the vehicle (the power going to the tailgate/endgame specifically) because I don't have power to the tailgate window as well as the door, but power to everywhere else. It could be a possibility of a fuse or shorted wire, but I have no wiring diagram to isolate the tailgate. The XUV is a rare vehicle and a lot of GM dealers see it and said that they have never heard of it before. Which means I'm going to pay them to experiment like I am. Does anyone have this issue or have wiring schematics for the tailgate in particular? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I have attached few wiring diagrams for the XUV. Let me know if you have able to read it. Some reason the format of these does not allow me to upload larger images.

You might find this article helpful:

Thank you.

Hello,

I just had a chance to check for your response this morning and I will definitely let you know how it turns out! I do have a updated list of symptoms that I can add to the list tailgate issues:
1. Insertion of the vehicle key in the tailgate causes no effect of mechanical response to the window or tailgate being activated.
2. Order a new Body Control Module (Manufacturer #10359109) with no positive results.
This tends to make me believe that it is closer to a possible power issue since the mechanical parts should at the very least activate but not cycle if it was mechanical. Once I print out the schematics that you provided, I might be able to hopefully check for power at the pin connection point. Thanks for your help so far!

Hello,

Do you know if the lock cylinder on the tailgate is a factory one or if it was changed?
The BCM usually needs to be programmed to the vehicle. Did it get programmed?

Keep me posted.

Thanks.

The lock cylinders are all factory. What I have actually changed is the Tailgate Window Regulator (AC Delco # 19210376) and the previously mentioned Body Control Module (Manufacturer #10359109). I'm not getting any fault codes on the dash when I hit any buttons or switches for the tailgate or roof. It seems as though it's not communicating with the back tailgate at all.

Nothing when I press the yellow button, nothing when I press the overhead buttons, nothing when I try to use the key directly in the tailgate. No motors turning, no fault indications on the dash.

Did you get the BCM programmed? It might not be recognized by the vehicle otherwise.

No sir I haven't. I just downloaded the attachment you sent with the last post and I'm going to try and follow the procedure as the instructions say. My question is even if its not programmed properly, I should at least get a indication that it is communicating with the BCM, but not able to respond by at least a error code on the dash right?

Hello,

You should get a signal that shows the circuit is completed. But it will not communicate with the vehicle.

First and foremost, I apologize for the delayed response. I'm in the military and I had to leave for work reasons, so I didn't want to give you the impression that I didn't appreciate your assistance. With that being said, I have tried all of the steps you recommended and where it currently stands is. If I attach a 3rd party device (Autel MaxiCOM) and remotely log in to control specific features (tailgate window up/down, tailgate open/close, roof open/close) it works, but it does not work if I try to control it from the buttons inside the vehicle and outside handle respectively. I don't know if there's an overall delete and reprogramming procedure for the functionality or if there is a particular relay/fuse that controls the functionality directly as opposed to remotely that makes a difference. I have replaced all switches in the tailgate as well as the actual CPU that controls the functions. I could "assume" that those are "known goods", but I could be wrong. What do you think? As always, your thoughts and opinions are welcome and greatly appreciated in this endeavor!

Hey, glad to hear back from you.
The BCM for that vehicle does need to be reprogrammed.
Did you get a chance to do that?

No sir, I have not. Do I need special instructions on how to do so, or is it just a matter of me unplugging the battery and letting the charge drain for about 30 minutes?

These typically require a special scan tool to perform the programming/relearn.
But disconnecting the battery could work.

Look below for the steps that Alldata provides.

Now the question I have is: Is there a procedure specifically for the Rear BCM? I tried the procedure that you passed along, but that is for all Envoys in general. The functions and controls for the regular controls did reset and relearn, but it had nothing to do with the rear controls.

Hi,

I noticed it has been a couple of days since we made contact. Has any progress been made?

I do have a question. Have you checked for damaged wires where the wiring harness goes from the body (top of liftgate) to the liftgate door? It is common for them to fail from opening and closing many times. Pull back the rubber boot there and inspect them. See pic 2.

Also, there is a liftgate module in the door itself. See pic 1. Check to make sure none of the wiring is damaged, cut, or disconnected.

Let us know what you find. I have a feeling that you have an open circuit to the liftgate module. Chances are it is where the wiring goes from the body to the door. Also, thank you for your service to our country. It is truly appreciated. I hope you have a safe and good new year.

Joe

Hello Mr. Joe,

Thanks for taking the time and giving some insight into my issue. Unfortunately, Uncle Sam has me put in the hours again for the holidays. We shuffle the work schedule so some people can have the opportunity to spend time with their family and friends. I actually won't really be able to apply your suggestion until January 4th when Holiday Leave ends and everyone is back. I truly appreciate the time and help that SQM and now you have offered. I'm going to get on it as soon as I possibly can!

This may not necessarily be the right platform, but I would like to take the time to wish all of you, all your family members, and loved ones a Blessed Holiday Season!
Hopefully you are able to share and receive the best gifts that you can exchange. Love, hope, trust, and the camaraderie between friends and loved ones. Be blessed and enjoy!
