The car got wet in the rain. Has had a new battery fitted.

When the key is put in there is no lights the car is totally dead. The car can be jumped off with jump leads. The car revs okay for about 30 seconds then cuts out.

The was left for a couple of days then it started up perfect first time. We drove the car and was perfect.

We then washed the car with a power washer and the car has done the exact same?

Hey LARIS79,

What do you mean it got wet in the rain?
The interior got wet?

The interior fuse panel is in the right footwell. It may be that you have moisture in the fuse board causing you issues. I have attached a picture of the fuse board below. Please check for signs of water ingress.

Let us know exactly what happened with the water and we can advise what might have been affected. Check the carpets to see where the water may be getting in.

Can you please confirm that the battery connections are clean and tight?

If it won't start unless you jump start it and it has a new battery it sounds like you may have a battery connection issue.

Regards, Joe

There is no signs of water inside. When we get it started you can rev the car and it holds at high revs, but after a couple of minutes it shuts off and goes totally dead again. Then if you leave it for a few hours there seems to be power. You go to start it and it just clicks. Then eventually no lights nothing. It’s like somewhere is drying out?

Hey LARIS79,

Could you please check for fault codes and let us know what you have stored?

There is a guide in the link below to check for fault codes:

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Also can you please remove the interior sill trim covers pull up the carpet and feel underneath?
The trims should pop up if you gently lever them. You should be able to pull the side of the carpet up enough to feel if the foam underneath is wet.

It would be good to rule out water ingress inside the vehicle.

Let us know what codes you have stored and if you have moisture underneath the carpet.

Regards, Joe
