Will not shift out of park

Started car. Could not shift out of park.
Shifter does move. But no movement of gear selector.

Hello,

Just had this problem it was the brake light switch do the brake lights work?

Here are diagrams (below) to show you what you are in for to fix the problem also check the fuses to make sure they are good.
