Back a few weeks ago, changed the head gasket on this car. Took out for test drive, was running great, all of a sudden it shut off. Got it back in the garage and discovered it's not firing at all. Changed the ICM, all the coils, new plugs and wires and crank sensor, still wont fire at the coils or plugs.
noticed the two wire crank sensor plug going into ICM had some bare wire showing and replaced it in case it was shorting out. Still no fire. Kind of stumped as to where to look next for the problem. All fuses are good and intact in the fuse box. Car turns over, getting fuel, just wont fire, any suggestions on what I may be over looking? Another odd tidbit. Car owner said this had done this to him before and he jiggled the gear shifter (column) and it would run after that, I could not reproduce this on the car so far. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

This could be a problem with the neutral safety switch. Below I have included some instructions on how to properly adjust your steering column shifter.

I know the neutral safety switch will prevent one from turning over if its bad, but can it cause the ignition not to fire? Car turns over, just not firing.

Have you checked the connector and the wires from the crankshaft position sensor?

Yes, replaced crank sensor and had to replace the wires for it going to the ICM, soldered them and pretty sure they have a good connection.
