Truck is running good but only 2 of the 3 monitors are coming up so it will not go through inspection. No codes except knock censors but its intermittent. They have been replaced before this. Could it be a bad computer?

Hi,

By chance, do you have the specific code that is being set? Also, I'm not sure where you are located, but in PA we are allowed to pass them (emissions) with one monitor reset.

As far as the knock sensor, do you get any ticking or a pinging sound when driving, specifically when the engine is under a load?

Let me know. Also, if you have the specific code, it will help me.

Take care,

Joe

I'm in NY. It's not pinging. I don't have the code. It comes up knock sensor but then when driving again it's not there. What would cause the 3rd monitor from coming up?

Can you post the vehicle inspection report to see what exactly is failing? Are you failing because a monitor has not been set? Here in California, you are allowed 1 monitor which is Evap because it can be hard to set. Eventually that will go away as technology is advancing. Will be looking out for that report to review and proceed from there.

Thanks for your response. I just got word that it finally went through. It took a lot of driving to get the 3rd monitor to reset. In NY you need 3 in order to pass.

Some monitors can be stubborn. Glad it finally resolved itself. Thank you for using 2CarPros.
