Why is there no recall after all these years?

ABS and brake light come on simultaneously after seeing “mechanic” who can charge me for it but not fix the issue. This is a problem and drivers as well as pedestrians can be hurt. It feels like the gas pedal has trembling motion. Especially when braking there is a lot of shaking holding the steering wheel. Misfire codes come up; I’ve been told it was a speed sensor. I have put commas into fixing this van and the problem still exists. Parts under $250 and labor almost $700, second time $1089, third time $643 with no resolution in sight. Then it was my head gaskets were bad and for $240 a rod was put in. ABS and brake light still comes. Brake fluid flush, coolant exchange, power steering flush all done for $415. In April a brand-new alternator $243. It is easy to lose control of the wheel as well. I have yet to have the issue resolved and I’m scared to drive with my children in the car. I’m scared by myself, but I have to get back and forth to my appointments for treatments/physical therapy etc. This is unnerving to know this has been an issue for years and no one cares to recall it while the customer continues to waste money. Why is this issue not important?

Hi,

I totally understand your frustration. Have you tried contacting anyone at Ford to see if they have suggestions? I checked for technical service bulletins, but there are none listed related to the ABS.

I have a question. Has anyone provided you with diagnostic trouble codes that could point me in the right direction for repairs? If so, could you send them to me? If you have the receipts from the repairs, they should be listed.

Let me know. Also, let me know if you have the original owner's manual. If you do, it should have phone numbers for Ford customer assistance in the rear of the book. If you don't have one, see the attachment below and give that number a try.

Let me know what I can do to help.

Take care,

Joe

It seems like you have a lot going on here and you have spent a lot of money on repairs, but we do not know exactly what each repair was done for. For your Check Engine, we need fault codes to better guide you. As for brake shimmy here is a link on warp rotors. Just scroll down to that section.

Also, what ABS codes are you getting? Let's take things one step at a time so we can figure this out.
