My vehicle will not shift from second to third the engine revs high but will not shift if I let go the gas it will shift into gear. I was told it could be the transmission fluid pressure switch solenoid. I want to know where it is located on the transmission and how to get to it from underneath or from the top by taking the battery out?

Good evening,

I attached a picture of the location for you.

It is under the pan at the top of the transmission under the hood. The solenoid is part of the solenoid pack on the valve body.

I doubt this is your issue as if it was bad you would have trouble in first and reverse as well.

Do you have any codes set?

I have a basic engine code reader but it does not show any code. Do I need a special code reader for transmissions?

You should not need a special reader for the code.

If it was electrical, it would code. Since you do not have any codes, good chance it is an internal failure in the transmission. It could be worn clutches internally.
