This is a common issue on Ford engines because most of them have a cylinder head temperature sensor and not an engine temperature sensor.

There is no difference but when searching for them on these vehicles they don't pull up under ECT.

We are going to need to drain the coolant slightly to get this replaced so here is a guide that will help doing this. I would suggest just changing the complete fluid since you are doing this anyway.
