With the relative scarcity of the engine for this vehicle, what other engine can one use to replace it and still get optimal performance?

Hello,

You really need to replace the engine in your vehicle with the exact same one that came out of it, paying attention to the type of transmission that your vehicle has. The reason for this is that modern vehicles have electronics that run virtually every system in the vehicle that is programmed specifically to run that vehicle. You can replace the engine with a different one, but be prepared to take out the whole wiring harness and rewire the whole vehicle with a stand alone wiring harness and Power-train Control Module (PCM). These stand alone engine management systems run around $1,500. To $3,000, depending on brand and quality. Either way, the choice is yours, but given the expense and extra work involved, I would recommend getting an exact replacement engine, but ultimately the choice is yours. Either way I would suggest checking out LKQ, which is Ebays auto dismantler. They have a wide array of used engines at a wide array of price ranges. Please keep us informed as to how things progress and if you have any vehicle related questions, please feel free to ask.

Thanks,
Alex

Thank you so much for this objective response.
I stay in Lagos, Nigeria, and can't seem to be able to get the same engine anywhere. I've checked all the auto parts market but can't find any. Is there any firm you can recommend for sourcing and shipment of the engine to Lagos Nigeria?

Hello again,

I would try LKQ on the internet. LKQ is Ebay's auto dismantler and they have a wide source of engine's for your vehicle in any mileage and price range. What exactly is wrong with your vehicle's engine again?

Thanks,
Alex

I don't know much about engines. The car hasn't been working optimally, and I have approached different auto mechanics and the responses I've been getting have been unanimous that the engine is weak. They all claim I can still be managing the car, but I don't wish to keep managing an engine that's bot performing optimally.

Hello again,

Okay, is your Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or "check engine" lamp illuminated?

Thanks,
Alex

Hello again,

Yes, it is the picture of the engine. Here is a link for you to go to so you can pull the Direct Trouble Code(s)(DTC)(s) from your vehicle.

https://www.2carpros.com/articles/checking-a-service-engine-soon-or-check-engine-light-on-or-flashing

Please go through this guide and pull the DTC(s). We can work from there.

Thanks,
Alex
