Replaced Water pump now car idles fast, rough and sounds different

Replaced water pump and thermostat now car idles fast and rough sounds different and tries to die out at stop light or when turning. Before replacing water pump it shook when idling and would cut out when driving like it was running out of gas, but never died and it would act like it was going to die at stop lights, but never did.
