Car was working fine, then one day, wife backing out of driveway notices, steering wheel a bit hard. She pulls back in and notices, steering, ABS, brake, traction control and airbag lights are on. I have no clue what is going on. Check engine light is not on. I tried using a obd scanner and it will not link. Check fuses and they seem to be fine, car is a 2012 instead of 2010.

Hello and welcome to 2CarPros. The first thing you need to do is have the battery fully charge and tested. Once you verified the battery is good then you need to check the charging system tested. Here is link to those test:

Low battery voltage will cause crazy issues and a generic OBD2 reader will not detect this unless you have an advance scanner to read the whole network. Check the battery and charging system and get back to us with the results to proceed from there.

Just ran the battery test and it passed. Just finished doing the alternator test. Before starting car, used the multi-meter to test the battery voltage, it read 12.26 volts. Next started the car and the multi-meter reading read 13.92 volts. Ran the headlights with the ac and the battery read 13.86 volts. The car has no issues cranking, it starts right up. I also want to note that at the time when these warning lights appeared, the temperature gauge, tachometer and speed sensor on the dash have all gone dead.

Hello and welcome back. Charging system looks good so we can rule battery and alternator out. What I am concerned with is you can not read fault codes. Something like this you need a more advance scan tool to read off all the modules to see if there is a communication fault?

Let's try this as a first step. Let us try to reboot the whole network. Disconnect both battery cables and touch the 2 leads together and have them touching for 15 minutes. This will power down the capacitors. Reconnect the cables after and let us know if that clear the lights and if it improves a little better. Also just to verify. This is a 2012 Corolla correct?

Hello and welcome back. Is your steering wheel off centered bu any chance? If the steering wheel is not straight then that would cause your vehicle to not go passed 25 MPH? Do you also have the codes available they retrieved?

Miller Toyota told be that I need a new steering angle sensor and new spiral cable plus they need to remove the aftermarket alarm. They want 1788 dollars for work to be completed. I initially had to pay 288 dollars for a electronic diagnostic and If I followed with the repairs, they would waive the fee. Aren't the spiral cable and steering angle sensor right next to each other. I don't have any codes since my car is still at the dealer. I don't believe the steering wheel was off cause I had driven it a couple of times going over 45mph. I probably will be picking up my car tomorrow, no way I am paying that kind of money, I have seen some of the YouTube videos, doesn't seem that complicated.

Hello, did you pick up your vehicle up already? If you did the diagnostic and hopefully the trouble codes were posted on your invoice to see what was recommended? Let us know please. Also why was the spiral cable and steering angle sensor recommended?
