2000 Volvo S40 stereo deck stuck on phone mode

My stereo will not play cd's or tune into the radio because it is stuck on 'phone' mode. I have tried disconnecting the unit and the battery, resetting the access code each time but it continues to default to 'phone', (a feature my car is not equipped with). Help!

I think you have a Bose radio, is that correct?

If so there is a place in Cali that repairs them

It may be a Bose, but it 'says' Volvo, model SC-816.
