2002 Volvo C70 Front Wheel Drive Automatic

We have a new to us 2002 C-70. Friday (3-12-2010) night we had to drive thru some deep standing water. After that the car started missing a few times but was not driven much that night. Sat we were headed back from vacation (a 1300 mile drive) and the car began missing quite a bit when accelerating. We lost almost all acceleration and the ETS lamp came on. We read the owners manual. Switched the ignition off then on again and the ETS lamp was off but the check engine light was on. We kept driving and over the course of the next 700 miles for sat. The car missed quite a bit and after maybe 300 miles didnt miss at all. Sunday drove 500 miles and the car did not miss at all. The check engine light is still on. There are two parts to this.
1. What happened. Did the plug wires get wet and need to dry out and should they be replaced?
2. I discovered when unpacking the car that the carpet is very very wet. As if the water came thru the floor. HOW DO I GET IT DRY we are in michigan and there is no sunshine to dry it up. Etc. And its still winter here.

The way I normally dry the carpets is by removing them out of the car and letting them hang dry outside but looks like you dont have that option right now? To remove the carpets the seats would need to be removed also and they are pretty heavy? Once the carpets are out, you can grab some towels and scoop up the rest of the water up, and trust me, there is going to be water under there. As for the first complaint, the ETS light means you had a fault with the elctronic throttle module. The module is covered by a 10 year/ 200k mile extended warranty regardless of who owned it before. The only problem is that Volvo would need to diagnose it and run some test to see if the throttle is bad or not? If it is not bad you pay for the diagnostic.
