Intermittent horn blowing during turn

I have a 1995 Jetta, and recently I have been experiencing a very weird problem. While turning the wheel, (mostly at very slow speeds like in a parking lot), my horn will activate during the turn. It doesn't happen all the time, but enough to make it embarrassing and annoying. What can I check before I break down and bring it to a merchanic? :(
