I drive a 94 VW Jetta. I recently left the lights on in my car overnight, killing my battery. After repeated attempts at "jumping" the car without success, I purchased a new battery and put it in the vehicle. Now, the battery problem is solved, and the car will not start. The battery does not appear to be the issue, since all electrical components work as they should. The car will even turn over and crank continuously, but the engine will not fire-up. Everything sounds normal with the car, it just will not start. Since the car started fine, before I killed the battery, I can only assume that this problem must be quite simple. However, I have no idea what the problem might be. Can anyone lead help me with this?

Have you checked your oil.

My 97 jetta will not start but will continuasly crank w/o starting.

Sometimes thats my only problem. I just add a little synthetic and boom im off and going.

Also try turning your lights on, pumping the gas 4-5 times and hold it in, then try starting.

Hope this helps.

P.S dont crank it for to long or you'll end up like me. The more you crank it and the longer the more damage your doing to your starter that bitch heats up fast. Mines dead haha. :D
