1968 Volkswagen Beetle 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Manual? Miles

i just bought this beetle and when I go to start it it doesnt do anything at all like its not getting any power to it. So my question is how do I get it to start? I have never worked on a beetle before so I am very confused on how it works. So if you could please help me out. Thank you.

Best suggestion is find a copy of Volkswagons for dummies I believe it's called. Guy wrote it in early 70's I used it to rebuild several VW engines. Pack full of helpful hints. Your problem could be in the wiring from ignition to starter. Use test ligkt to see if power to starter solenoid. Also pull up back seat see if power to big red wire on regulator.
Good Luck
