Noises problem
1967 Volkswagen Beetle Manual

Hello! I have an old VW 1967 beetle that I have recently purchased. The car recently started to make a high pitch squeal with a rotating rhythmical pattern to the sound, if that makes any sense! When the sound first started it would start when you exceeded about 80 kmph and use to come and go, now it seems to be quite constant and I've noticed the speedometer goes up and down quickly when it first starts to make the sound and then the speedometer settles down again. Any ideas what this could be and if it is related to the speedometer? The noise gets quite unbearable and gets worse the faster you go. Oh the noise is not from the engine, but from the front. It sounds more from the left (drivers sound).

Many thanks in advance,

James

Speedo maybe in need of lube. If noise is assoicated with speedo jumping then cable is rubbing on sheath.
