Car only moves when transmission is shifted into reverse

My car will only go in reverse. When you try to go forward, it won't go into gear. This happened suddenly, with no indication of any trouble at all. No codes.

This could be a number of things like an internal transmission issue or even a pump or valve body issue.

However, the most likely cause of all of this is a shift cable issue.

So I would suggest we start with checking the cable and make sure it is not only attached but adjusted properly.

If the cable is okay then we need to check the fluid and make sure it is full and in good condition.
