Loss of overdrive?

Recently lost ability to shift into over drive. Have to drive in third. All other gears work fine, just doesn't shift into over drive. It goes in drive but slow. Do it mean transmission is going out? Or can this be fixed? Help please!
Don't want to get taken by this little dealer/ mechanic here if it can be fixed! And check engine light is on.

Good morning,

The first thing I would do is to have the fluid and filter changed. A clogged filter would cause this issue.

Also, can you get me the code? A parts store will read it for free for you. Once you get that, I can see if it is related to the transmission issue.
