It dislayed Transmission Limited Function on the dash board and the car went on a 20mph Mode.
The Engine management light is on as well.
This Morning the Message Transmission Limited function is gone but the Engine Management Light is on. It is driving okay, but the worrying bit is why the Engine Management light is on?

Hello, I'm Danny.

Having your car go into limp mode and having the lights on dash come on means you have some type of malfunction code stored in your vehicles computer. Once you have the codes read if you could get back to us with the code numbers we can help properly diagnose the problem. If you don't have access to a scanner/code reader your local auto parts stores have a tool loaner program and can rent you one. Some local auto parts stores like AutoZone can check codes for free. Here is a tutorial showing what is involvedL

Hope this helps an feel free to ask questions if needed. Once you get back to us with the codes we'll be happy to help. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Hello again.

The code P0700 is showing there is a problem with the transmission control module.I'm sure any auto repair shop or transmission shop can fix it/quote you a price. Shop labor is around $100.00 an hour depending the area you live in.I'm trying to find a repair guide for a Ford Galaxie or a Ford that is comparable.I'll continue my search. Hope this helps and thanks again for using 2CarPros.
