Hello,

On this vehicle there 2 transmission filters. One is in the transmission pan and the other in the cooler line.
I have attached the procedures for both.
It will use transmission fluid: Mercon V for the 5R55S transmission and Mercon SP for the 6R60 Transmission.
To find out what transmission you have you can just call your local dealer and give them the VIN and they will be able to give you that information.

As for the amount you might need, ford does not provide with a set amount as there are few variables when draining the fluid, it can drain different amount depending on the transmission cooler size also the temperature can make a difference as well.
The best course of action is for you to measure the fluid when you drain it into a container.

I attached diagrams for your reference.

Please let me know of any questions.
Thank you.

This is great thank you. I looked and it appears the two different transmissions one is for the 4.0 v6 and the other is for the 4.6 v8, I have the 4.0 which shows to be the 5R55S transmission. Does that appear to be correct?

For some reason on my chart it shows both transmission as an option for the 4.0.
So unfortunately, I cannot verify for sure.
But yes, it should be the 5R55S for the V6 as all the V6 that I am aware of used that transmission.
