Often when I first get in car to leave home the transmission will not shift. It remains in low gear. I stop and let the car idle for several minutes and then it will usually shift properly. Sometimes the check engine light will come on.
It will stay on for several minutes or sometimes several days. Have noticed the interior lights and cigarette lighter have stopped working. Need help. Thank you.

First thing to do here is get the scan done to see what has set the codes that has activated the check light, post back with the findings for further assistance.

Here is a link to an article that features written step by step instructions and pictures explaining how to do the scan yourself, also I have included a link to our YouTube channel with a how to video on code scanning. Most scanners are inexpensive to purchase, you can purchase one from Amazon.com. Once you have the codes please get back to us so that we can further assist you. Thank you for visiting 2CarPros.
