Good morning,

If you can afford a replacement, not a used one, it is best to get a already rebuilt unit and install it.

This way, you get a warranty for the repair. You do not want to install a used one and find out it is no good and have to do the job again and again.

As far as you rebuilding or a shop rebuilding it for you, that is an option but the money is left open ended. What I mean is you may get an estimate, and that is not an invoice, and it could easily double or more once it is opened up.

What is the issue with your car?
