It locks itself into second gear and will not shift

Shifts fine into reverse. After a couple blocks it locks itself into second gear and will not shift. Once it's shut off it will start to shift again for another couple blocks.

Good afternoon,

Are there any codes stored in the system?

Is this the 3 speed or 4 speed? You can tell by the selector. If it has a D with a circle, it is a 4 speed.
