Okay, I know my transmission is going out. Her fluid is black then black. She shift rough sometimes. She has no get up and go. Her shifting can almost red line her in her RPM about a 6. And about three maybe four months ago she started having this clicking maybe ticking one or the other sound underneath right where the transmission is located. My question is, if I change her filter but reuse the old fluid and add in lucas transmission high mileage fluid in her if that would help her last lil bit longer then what she is now.
PS: her engine and odometer has 123,523. Previous owners switch those out but left the transmission that had over 225,000 miles on it. So the transmission probably has 300,000 maybe 400,000 give or take miles on her.

Hello, I'm Danny.

I think changing the filter and re-using the old fluid won't change anything for longevity. Now that there is such high mileage and the fluid is burnt and black in color there is not much you can do. The fluid now has all the friction material suspended in it from the clutch packs so changing anything usually ends up a short time later to having the transmission start slipping. If you plan on keeping the car its going to be time for a new transmission. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any further questions about this issue. Thanks for using 2CarPros.

Good afternoon,

Changing the fluid and filter is a god statrt.

Do not add Lucas as it does nothing to your issue.

Never, ever use old fluid. Replace with fresh new fluid.
