My 1995 Chevrolet silverado c1500 ext cab had the 4l60e in it. I have taken the transmission, A 4l80e out of a 1995 c2500 and put it in my truck. I have also taken the following parts from the donor truck c2500. Computer, cross member, transmission harness plug in. And speed sensor plugs. And drive shaft. My question is this. The c2500 had a 5.7L & the 4l80e transmission. My truck has the 5.7L and 4l60e transmission. I would like to take everything I have from the c2500 and put in my c1500. When I change the computer. The wiring harness will still be configured for the 4l60e. What wiring do I need to change in between the computer & transmission plug for it to accommodate the 4l80e?

Good evening,

You will need the complete harness from the donor truck to your truck. That is the only way to make it work correctly.

The 80 has an input speed sensor that the 60 does not. That means the harness and the ECM are different. I attached the diagrams of both below.

Found out transmission is shot, was wondering if possible to replace the 4L60E with 4L80E with out to much modification? I pull heavy loads sometimes and if too much modification I will just get some upgrades for the 4L60E to make a little more heavy duty.

I do not think the 4l80e is wired same as a 60e so that may be a problem. Also 80 e is longer than a 60 just do not get a transmissions beyond 1994 model year.

Ok, another thing when swapping out trans is there a program or unit to buy to reflash computer or should I turn it over to dealer or local shop for swap out. I heard you got to reflash the computer, so something I might be able to do or not?

You will not be able to reflash any computer that is strictly a dealer operation but due to age of car that may not be possible anymore.

Ok, so are you saying I'll just be able to swap out the trans without doing anything to the computer and be able to do it myself?
