Transfer case issue

After driving half in the snow in four wheel drive I parked my vehicle in a garage and shifted it back to two wheel drive. Upon returning and trying to move the vehicle I found the vehicle to remain stationary despite me shifting it into first or reverse. Thoughts on what the problem might be?
