Transmission swap

I have a 1992 Explorer Sport, and I was wondering if a transmission out of a 1996 Ranger will work for the swap? Both are manual transmissions.

I cannot give you a definite answer on this from the information I have here.

If they both have the 4.0L and are 2WD it is possible.

To be sure I would contact a Ford dealer and ask the question.

From your VIN they should be able to give you the number for your transmission and then should be able to give you a list of vehicles fitted with the same transmission.
