Trail arm bushings

Should the trail arm be 1-1/4” space to allow for bushing sleeves? I do not know if they were over tightened and now I need to spread them then re-weld? The bushings and sleeves touching each other need 1-1/4” space.

When I removed these arm the little bit of weld was broke at the end. Not thinking about gap I just rewelded them.

I just bought them from Paragon Corvette parts. I did check the new to old size especially the sleeve length. They are correct. I wonder if over the years a tech had not over tightened the bolt. I had one arm pressed in and ended up with about 3/16” of inch between sleeve and arm. On one side. The other bushing was seated.

On another note; I guess I am not understanding the bush rings. When installed would the sleeves be touching? Or maybe a gap between them? There is plenty of room in the pocket. There was a 1/2” on one side and 3/8” worth of shims on the other side. Strange enough they were about the same spacing on both arms.
