Traction control and check engine turned on?

I recently bought this car, and the traction control light came on and the check engine light came on a couple days after I bought the car. The check engine light has stayed on so far and the traction control light comes on after about 20 minutes of driving. I don't really know where to start.

We must do a CAN scan to see what codes come up so we can fix them, you can get a CAN scanner (Controller Area Network) which will work on most cars from Amazon.
