I recently (last 6 months) had the engine tuned up. Was sitting at a red light a few weeks ago and felt the engine hesitate. When I took off the engine sputtered then backfired. The backfire however didnt come from the tailpipe more behind the engine right underneath the cab. Problem has gotten worse in the last few weeks any ideas what could be the problem?

Hi bwilliamson,

Thank you for the donation.

Symptoms seems to indicate misfiring from the engine which could be caused by spark plugs, ignition coils, spark plug wires or fuel injectors.

Is the Check Engine Light showing? You can get a scan done free at you local Autozone part outlet to retrieve Diagnostic Trouble Codes. Let me know the exact DTC if any and we can try to work out a solution.

I finally got the trouble codes from Autozone. I believe these are what your looking for if they arent I have the printout. Code #1 p1135 Code #2 p0301 Code #3 p0300 I know one of these codes is for the front O2 sensor. The guy at Autozone told me the other code means I need a tune up but I just had a tuneup about 6 months ago. Also while doing some research on the net I found this one website that said O2 sensors dont go bad they just need to be cleaned. If this is true how do you go about cleaning it as Autozone is charging well over $300 just for the one sensor. Thank you so much in advance

P1135 is a fault with the front Heated O2 sensor or circuit.

Since only P0301 is present for cylinders misfiring, I would suggest checking the first cylinder spark plugs and ignition coils.
