For some time now my Toyota Tacoma has had a problem with the engine not cranking over, At first I thought it was just the cold, but now its warm and it still does the same thing. I put the key in the ignition and turn it over but it makes one click then stops. I am thinking it is my starter but most starters I have replaced have made a lot of clicking noises when turning over the ignition. Would my problem still be the starter? Or is it another problem

Hi baxtersmurf18, welcome to 2carpros and TY for the donation

No crank at all/nothing/nada:

Could be a blown fusible link, the starter, starter interlock relay, clutch switch/park and neutral switch and ignition switch assuming the battery and connections are good.

Try shorting out the starter and see if it engages the engine

Yeah I turn over the ignition and I get one click each time I try to turn it over, eventually it starts but it takes about 3 to 15 times before I can get it to start. I first though it was the battery and cables, but I have replaced the battery and connections and all that so I am a bit confused. How would I short out the starter?

At the starter solenoid there's a small wire colored black and white on the small terminal and a thick black wire on the battery terminal cross this 2 together wit ha screwdriver and see if it engages the engine.
